Protecting the Indian River Lagoon

Indian River Lagoon

Brevard County back in the 60's was called the saltwater trout capital of the world. Back then, the water in the Indian River was clean and clear. As the population of the Brevard County swelled, the water conditions in the Indian River Lagoon began to deteriorate, and the sport fishermen began to notice that they could not locate fish in the size and numbers that had been present in the past. Several conservation groups and government agencies are now trying to protect the Indian River Lagoon. Visit the sites below to learn more about protecting our lagoon, and if you have the time, take an active roll in preserving this natural resource for future generations.
